Tone of Everyday (SOUR – 日々の音色)
‘Hibi No Neiro (Tone of Everyday)’ is a song by an indie band called Sour made up of three Japanese artists. It was number one on the YouTube Video Awards in the category of music, which was held by YouTube of Japan in 2009.
Back then, this indie band, SOUR, released a regular mini album. However, it became difficult to produce music videos due to their budget. So instead, they collected webcam video clips from their fans through You Tube and edited them to complete the music video in just over three months.
The process of making the music video and its outcome successfully present the most fundamental concept that YouTube has to offer, that is, ‘communication.’ SOUR sent the their video clips to 84 fans who joined the project through the internet and combined them into one video. As a result, a music video has been created that shows both creative ideas and warmth.
Hibi No Neiro (Tone of Everyday) Lyrics
The heart softly projecting on the mirrored puddles’ surface
Is your tone, one that escaped from the maze of the daily grind
The look of houses and stores on the street
Add color to the sound of spring’s footsteps
The melody that flows out, “le lu la li”
Only comes through rose-tinted glasses
Reggae, dub, hip-hop, techno, Latin
On the wave of value’s flood
Jazz, rock, pop, category no more
Just what is the important thing here anyway?
The surroundings overhead revolve faster than the seasons
Is that, or this, or what color of melody?
Even when you’re confused
Reggae, dub, hip-hop, techno, Latin
On the wave of value’s flood
Jazz, rock, pop, category no more
What are you thinking now?
If you take all the differences together
A bright and rainbow-colored sky shines out
The heart softly projecting on the mirrored puddles’ surface
Is your tone, one that escaped from the maze of the daily grind
If you can’t see whichever color,
It’s because of the sensation of clarity
Don’t sweat that sort of thing
Let’s just keep going this way
If you take all the differences together
A bright and rainbow-colored sky grants us its rain
Without a doubt, the heart softly projecting on the mirrored puddles’ surface
Is your tone, one that escaped from the maze of the daily grind
If you can’t see whichever color,
It’s because of the sensation of clarity
Your tone is shining in rainbow colors
It’s the tone that you play that escapes from the maze of the daily grind
